The leadership team includes scholars and activists who are dedicated to advancing progressive policies and social justice. As of March 2025, the President and CEO of CAP is '''Patrick Gaspard''', who took office in 2021. Gaspard has a long history of working in progressive politics, having previously served as U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, executive director of the Democratic National Committee, and senior advisor to President Obama.
